Camp Four

Banff local, Kristen McKay, got in touch with me to develop an identity, along with packaging and product cards, for her small business, Camp Four. Camp Four focuses on natural soy candles that are “hand poured with love, in Banff, Alberta”. Kristen saw an opportunity in the local tourism market for a piece of memorabilia that is elevated above the usual gift shop items, and I wanted to make sure that the candles felt that way upon the first glance.

The overall design for Camp Four is very minimalist and sophisticated, with a heavy focus on the use of typography. The name “Camp Four” is in reference to the fourth camp on a mountaineering expedition – which I played on by adding navigational stars in reference to the summit of Everest and Everest’s own “camp four” within the typographic logo.
