Scope included testing proper sizes and working with the printer to develop a moveable template to test.&nbsp; The design reflects a strong sense of place, and is meant to reflect the four season in Banff National Park. Iconic mountains are paired with flora and fauna to give you a sense of the majesty of the national park from downtown Banff. Layers are used to create reflections of the layers of mountain ranges surrounding the townsite, and accurate topographic maps are used to add texture, and again, to focus on the sense of place. Colours were pulled from natural elements: fireweed, paintbrush, larches, the cool shadows of winter are a few inspiration points. The colours should add vibrancy through the white months of winter, and compliment the natural beauty of Banff in the spring, summer, and fall. Camp Four focuses on natural soy candles that are “hand poured with love, in Banff, Alberta”. Kristen saw an opportunity in the local tourism market for a piece of memorabilia that is elevated above the usual gift shop items, and I wanted to make sure that the candles felt that way upon the first glance. The overall design for Camp Four is very minimalist and sophisticated, with a heavy focus on the use of typography. The name “Camp Four” is in reference to the fourth camp on a mountaineering expedition – which I played on by adding navigational stars in reference to the summit of Everest and Everest’s own “camp four” within the typographic logo. guide book” was how this project was presented to me during the approach to a crag on a spring day. Mark Nielsen, and a band of friends (Random Band of Misfists), had spent the weekends of their 20’s exploring Saskatchewan’s unsung natural gems, yet there was no one place to discover the multitude of offerings the “flat” province has to offer. The solution? Creating it themselves.&nbsp; Initially tasked with creating some “shitty” illustrations, as a Saskatchewan ex-pat, I felt that the book needed to be done justice, and fully took over the design, and touched up some editing along the way. A limited run was printed, with proceeds being donated to charity.
